My career as a professional still photographer began at the age of twenty-two shooting high-end medium and large format portraits at sororities and fraternities at nearly every major university across the country. I learned a lot about what makes a good portrait through lighting and personality expression.
I carried my love for photography into the United States Navy as a Photographer's Mate and later a Navy Photo Officer, serving for twenty-three years in the Atlantic and Pacific Fleet Combat Camera Groups. Also served in the Navy Reserve as a Photo and Public Affairs Officer with the Commander Amphibious Forces Squadron Five and the Commander Naval Forces Europe. The Navy provided some amazing opportunities in some incredible locations for still photography, from the flight deck of an aircraft carrier to the depths of nuclear powered submarines. I will never forget my first official Navy photographic assignment - finding myself hanging out the side door of a fast moving helicopter high above the ocean. This was something quite new for a boy from western Oklahoma. Over the years the Navy put me in some fascinating locations and situations for photography across Asia and Europe.
My career in still photography had been side tracked by working in motion picture and video production. I was able to carry over much of my experience and skill as a still photographer into cinematography and videography. Currently I manage a creative media group for a large aerospace corporation in Denver, Colorado. Living in Colorado is a dream for a photographer who loves the outdoors. There is no end to the possibilities. With this website I hope to present images that capture your eye and imagination. This is a new site so I hope to continuously expand the content of style and subject matter.
I currently shoot with a Canon 5D full frame sensor digital camera and a Canon Rebel XT. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Thank you
